Accepting donations

Accepting payments

By Ian Williams | 8 June, 2020

1. Whats new

As colish.org went online, we offered one way of paying online. Today we pumped up our one-click pay-now service to 22 ways of paying and can accept payments in over 100+ countries around the world.

Over the last couple of years there has been a trend to ask for a donation as “buy me a coffee”. We have taken this idea and fledged it out three products: “Buy us a coffee”, “Buy us a pizza”, “Pay the rent”. Time will tell us if this was a crazy idea or not.

3. Types of donations

We now also offer donation packages in one-off and with monthly subscription.

4. End user acceptance

Our donation service is for people around the world. Due to this diversity we have a couple of topics to think about in the future:

  • An enduser may not know what a USD, EUR, GBP, Pound, Dollar, Euro is or worth (topic currency).
  • If a webpage has too many options, it might turn people away (topic overloading).
  • Having to click through too many pages also turns people off (topic access).
  • If a webpage has too many items it gets slow to load, and users turn away (topic speed).
  • etc.

5. Outlook

Our service offering will probably change in the next couple of months as we start to set up other services. With the above topics in mind, it will be interestng to see how the path ‘Accepting Donations’ will Rollout in the future.
